THE BEST PÌCTURE - PHOTOGRAPH PROVIDED BY NASA

This week, Internet browsers will be able to choose the best photo of Planet Earth in the NASA Observatory. The finalists are a photo of the Canaries and another of the eruption of the Kliuchevskoi volcano in Siberia (Russia), taken from the International Space Station.
In the photo of the Canary archipelago taken by the Terra satellite on 15 June 2013, the islands seem to be sailing over the ocean, leaving a trail behind them.
As stated by NASA, the sun reflected off the water gives the Atlantic Ocean silvery tones in much of the photo, and the prevailing winds from the north-east create a wake in a south-westerly direction from each of the islands.
Its rival in this prestigious photographic competition is an image taken by the astronauts on the International Space Station on 16 November of a volcano on the Kamchatka peninsula.
Anyone wishing to vote for one of the two finalists can do so until this Friday 4 April at http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/TournamentEarth.
