On the fourth
Thursday of November, Thanksgiving is celebrated all over North America.
As we
are learning about culture and traditions in countries where English is spoken,
we learnt about this celebration. The English and Religion teachers worked together to explain about the origins of this holiday: George Washington, as president of the United
States of America, proclaimed the first nation-wide thanksgiving celebration in
November 26th, 1789.
After learning about
Thanksgiving, we had a snack of sharing food and we remembered that we are
studying about fractions, so most students brought things and divided them in
parts. We had a great first Thanksgiving.
Then, we made our wishing trees and we gave thanks for the things we consider important in our lives.
